Hey {{first_name}} ,
4 ways to feel more prepared for a layoff
Layoffs can feel completely out of your control. But there are steps you can take now to give yourself more options and make a difficult situation a little less stressful.
Here are three ways to start building career resilience:
1. Get honest about your risk. Consider how your role, team, company, and industry are doing. Are there signs of shifting priorities, budget cuts, or slowing hiring? You can't predict every change, but understanding your environment can help you make more informed decisions.
2. Build options before you need them. Keep your resume and LinkedIn profile updated, stay connected with people in your network, and keep track of your accomplishments. You don't have to be actively job searching to keep your next move within reach.
3. Know your financial safety net. Take a look at your emergency savings, understand your benefits, and know what would happen to your health insurance if you lost your job. Even a basic plan can help you feel more prepared for the unexpected.
4. Join Tech Ladies on October 21 for How to Become Layoff-Proof, a practical workshop with ICF-certified career coach Grace Fabian. You'll explore your career risks, learn strategies to build more options, and leave with concrete next steps. Learn more and RSVP here.
Of course, career resilience isn't just about preparing for the worst. Make sure to protect your energy, recognize what you can control, and make intentional decisions about what you want from your career.
