On Redefining "Having It All"
Hey ,
For years, women have been fed the myth of “having it all”: the high-powered job, the perfect home life, the flawless balance. But for many women in tech, especially those in mid to senior roles, the pressure to perform at work while managing caregiving, health, and community responsibilities is relentless. And the truth? “Doing it all” often means doing too much with little room left for joy, rest, or growth.
What if we rewrote the script? As Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code, put it in The Marshall Plan for Moms, “We need to stop equating worth with productivity.” Success doesn't have to look like constant motion. It can mean setting boundaries, saying no to what doesn’t serve you, and building a career that supports, not stifles, your life outside of work.
In tech, we often optimize systems. It’s time to do the same with our definitions of success. That might mean prioritizing roles that align with your values, rethinking what leadership looks like, or recognizing that stepping back temporarily doesn’t mean stepping down.
At Tech Ladies, we champion a more expansive vision of ambition, one that makes space for wholeness, not just hustle. However you define your success, know that you don’t have to figure it out alone. We’re here to build that version of success with you - one supportive connection at a time. And if you’re ready to invest in that journey with us, consider joining us at ICON 2025 this fall and dig deeper into redefining leadership, executive presence, and balance.
