Rails Foundation Director, Amanda Perino on Rethinking Presence

In partnership with

Hey ,

Amanda Perino learned discipline early by hauling stacks of newspapers through rain-soaked streets as the neighborhood paper girl at age 11. That first job built grit, persistence, and the ability to face people directly, even the ones who refused to pay.

That grit is a throughline in her non-linear career: studying marketing before social media existed, running event marketing for developer communities, learning to code through a Ruby on Rails bootcamp, and now leading as Executive Director of the Rails Foundation.

Her most pivotal leadership insight came from unexpected feedback in an annual review: “She seems like she lacks confidence.” The comment didn’t match how Amanda saw herself, but it revealed something critical—presence requires deliberately shaping how others experience you.

Amanda transformed the way she showed up, ensuring her communication and visibility matched her strengths. Now she encourages others, especially women in tech, to take that same ownership.

This October at ICON in NYC, Amanda will deliver Rethinking Your Presence in the Workplace, urging women to take the stage, claim space, and make their perspectives impossible to ignore.

From Italy to a Nasdaq Reservation

How do you follow record-setting success? Get stronger. Take Pacaso. Their real estate co-ownership tech set records in Paris and London in 2024. No surprise. Coldwell Banker says 40% of wealthy Americans plan to buy abroad within a year. So adding 10+ new international destinations, including three in Italy, is big. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.
